Morpheus8 Treatment
Loose skin along the jawline, crepey texture under the eyes, and acne scars all share a common thread: they sit deeper than surface treatments can reach. Morpheus8 combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy, delivering heat beneath the skin surface to tighten tissue and stimulate new collagen. Patients visit the Beverly Hills office from West Hollywood, Santa Monica, Brentwood, Century City, and across Los Angeles for Morpheus8 treatment of the face and neck.
Dr. Kami Parsa co-authored a 2023 prospective trial of transcutaneous radiofrequency applied to the eyelids, published in The Open Ophthalmology Journal. That study was about dry eye rather than cosmetic tightening, but it reflects hands-on experience with radiofrequency energy on the delicate skin around the eyes. He has also presented and lectured on Pitfalls in Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty, including at the California Society of Plastic Surgeons, which informs his judgment about when under-eye skin can be improved with Morpheus8 and when surgery is the better answer. He is an oculoplastic and reconstructive surgeon with more than 20 years of clinical experience.
“Morpheus8 can do a lot for skin texture and early laxity, especially under the eyes. But if the problem is fat or real sagging, no amount of radiofrequency will fix it, and I would rather tell you that up front.” — Dr. Kami Parsa
What Is Morpheus8?
Morpheus8 is an InMode device that pairs fine microneedles with fractional radiofrequency energy. The needles create tiny channels in the skin, and radiofrequency energy is released at the needle tips to heat the deeper layers. That heat contracts tissue and prompts new collagen over the following months, while the skin surface between the needles stays intact to support healing.
The needle depth can be adjusted for different areas. Facial treatments typically reach a few millimeters, with shorter settings around the eyes, while deeper settings are reserved for the body. Morpheus8 is FDA-cleared for dermatological procedures that require coagulation and contraction of soft tissue. Under that clearance, higher energy settings are limited to lighter skin types, so energy is adjusted for darker skin tones to lower the risk of pigment changes.
What Morpheus8 Can Treat
Morpheus8 is commonly used for:
- Mild to moderate laxity along the jawline and lower face
- Crepey skin and fine lines under the eyes
- Neck lines and early neck laxity
- Acne scars and surgical scars
- Enlarged pores and uneven texture
For the smoothest skin surface along with tightening, Dr. Parsa developed the Duplex® Procedure, which combines radiofrequency microneedling with fractional CO2 laser resurfacing. Scar-specific options are also explained on the Scars page.
Is Morpheus8 Right for You?
Morpheus8 may be a good fit for adults who:
- Have mild to moderate skin laxity or crepey texture
- Have acne scars or uneven skin texture
- Want tightening without surgery and can plan a few days of recovery
- Are in good general health with realistic expectations
Morpheus8 is not appropriate if you have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, metal implants in the treatment area, an active skin infection, or are pregnant. Recent isotretinoin use, a tendency to form raised scars, and a history of cold sores should all be discussed before treatment. Patients with significant sagging or puffy lower eyelid bags usually get better results from surgery, such as lower eyelid surgery.
What to Expect During Morpheus8 Treatment
Your visit begins with a consultation with Dr. Parsa or licensed members of his clinical team, who review your skin type, medical history, and any past procedures. A topical numbing cream is applied before treatment, and protective eye shields are used when treating near the eyes. A facial treatment typically takes 30 to 60 minutes.
Afterward, expect redness, swelling, and a faint grid pattern on the skin for a few days. Most patients return to normal routines within one to three days, though makeup and strenuous exercise are usually avoided briefly. Most plans involve about three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, with results developing over several months as collagen builds. Strict sun protection helps protect the result and lower the risk of pigment changes.
Risks and When to Seek Care
Common effects include redness, swelling, tenderness, pinpoint scabbing, and temporary grid marks. Less common risks include infection, prolonged redness, darkening or lightening of the skin, burns, and, rarely, changes in facial fat or contour with aggressive treatment. Contact the office promptly if you notice increasing pain, spreading redness, pus, blistering, or any change in vision after treatment near the eyes.
