Signature Facials
Professional facials do the steady maintenance work that keeps skin clear and comfortable: cleansing, exfoliating, clearing congested pores, and replacing hydration. Done on a regular schedule, they support everything else in a skin plan, from injectables to laser treatment. Patients visit the Beverly Hills office from West Hollywood, Brentwood, Santa Monica, Century City, and across Los Angeles for facial treatments.
Dr. Kami Parsa is an oculoplastic and reconstructive surgeon with more than 20 years of clinical experience, and he is the founder and medical director of Parsa M.D. Facials here are part of a medical practice rather than a standalone spa, which means a licensed provider assesses your skin first and can flag anything that needs a physician’s attention. His research interests include skin repair, and he is an Adjunct Clinical Professor at the Keck School of Medicine of USC.
“A facial should start with looking at the skin, not with a menu. What your skin needs in August after a summer of sun is not what it needs in January.” — Dr. Kami Parsa
Facial Options
Each facial begins with an assessment of your skin, and the steps are adjusted from there.
- DermaGlo Facial: Combines mechanical exfoliation with infusion of medical grade serums chosen for concerns such as congestion, dullness, dryness, or uneven tone.
- Custom Facial: A tailored treatment that may include enzyme or chemical exfoliation, extractions, a custom mask, serum infusion, LED, or a DermaGlo pass, depending on what your skin needs that day.
- Express Facial: A shorter version for cleansing, exfoliation, and hydration when time is limited.
A signature facial usually takes about 50 minutes, and an express facial about 25 minutes. A peel or oxygen treatment can be added.
What a Facial Includes
Most treatments follow the same sequence, adjusted to your skin:
- Analysis: A look at your skin’s current condition and concerns.
- Cleansing and steam: Prepares the skin and softens debris in the pores.
- Exfoliation: Mechanical or enzyme based, depending on sensitivity.
- Extractions: Clears congested pores where appropriate.
- Mask and serums: Selected for hydration, calming, or brightening.
- Moisturizer and sunscreen: Protects freshly treated skin.
Is a Facial Right for You?
Facials suit most adults who want routine maintenance, have congested pores or dull, dry skin, or want a refresh before an event without downtime. They also give newer patients a low commitment way to start working on their skin.
Treatment is postponed for active skin infections, cold sores, open wounds, sunburn, or an active eczema or rosacea flare in the area. Tell your provider about isotretinoin use, prescription retinoids, recent peels, laser treatment, or waxing, and any allergies or sensitivities. Extractions are adjusted or skipped for inflamed acne.
A facial is maintenance, not correction. Established wrinkles, sun damage, acne scars, and laxity need treatments that work deeper, such as a chemical peel, microneedling, or laser treatment.
What to Expect
Facials are performed by licensed members of Dr. Parsa’s clinical team. After the assessment, the treatment proceeds through cleansing, exfoliation, extractions where needed, and the mask and serum steps, with time built in for the products to work.
Skin usually looks brighter immediately. Mild redness can last an hour or two, and small marks from extractions can take a day or so to settle. Most patients return to normal activities right away and can wear makeup the same day, though bare skin is often more comfortable. Daily sunscreen matters more than usual afterward, since exfoliated skin is more sun sensitive. Monthly treatment is a reasonable maintenance rhythm, since skin turns over roughly every four weeks.
Risks and When to Seek Care
Facials are low risk. The most common effects are temporary redness, mild tightness, and small spots of irritation where extractions were performed. Less commonly, a serum or product causes a reaction, or a breakout appears in the days afterward. Contact the office if redness lasts more than a day or two, if you develop a rash, hives, or swelling, or if an extraction site becomes painful or inflamed.
Why Choose Dr. Parsa’s Practice for Facials in Beverly Hills
- Assessment First: Each visit starts by looking at your skin rather than applying a fixed routine.
- Medical Setting: Facials happen in a surgical practice, so concerns that need a physician can be raised the same day.
- Honest Scope: Facials are offered as maintenance, and stronger treatments are recommended when they are what your goals require.
- Eye Area Care: The thin skin around the eyes is treated gently by a team that works with eyelid skin daily.
- Part of a Plan: Facials fit between injectables, peels, and energy treatments rather than competing with them.
